Walmer Town Council has a new chairman after Cllr Mrs Sue Chevalier completed her two-year term. Cllr James Murray, a councillor with Walmer Town Council since 2015, Vice Chairman of the Council and Chairman of the Planning Committee for the past two years has accepted the role and says, “It is a great privilege to be appointed Chairman and I look forward to the opportunity of serving the people of Walmer and representing the Town Council.”

Cllr Mrs Le Chevalier reflected on her chairmanship and told Councillors, “It has been a great honour to serve the people of Walmer and I will be pleased to remain a Walmer Town Councillor and continue to work on several committees. Of all the memories I have of the last two years, the highlight was probably lighting the beacon at Deal Victoria and Barnes Close Cricket Club as part of the “Lights On” commemorations to mark the 100th Anniversary of the end of WW1.

I would like to thank all the councillors with whom I have had the pleasure of working as well as the office staff. I am sure James will do an excellent job as chairman and I wish him well.”

Cllr Miss Amy Herring, a councillor since 2015 was elected as Vice-Chairman.
