Dog Bans on Beaches and Set Public Spaces in Dover District to be Reinstated on 1 June
As more people are now getting out in the district, Dover District Council is reinstating restrictions on where people can walk their dogs from 1 June 2020.
DDC temporarily relaxed restrictions on where dogs can be walked, as set out in the Public Spaces Protection Order, (PSPO), following an appeal from the RSPCA. This was to help people stay local when walking their pets, to help prevent unnecessary travel and curb the potential spread of coronavirus.
The restrictions on where dogs can be walked in Dover District, as set out in the PSPO, will be reinstated from 1 June 2020.
Normally, dogs are not permitted on beaches where restrictions apply from 1 May to 30 September between set times. The reinstatement of the beach ban for dogs is in line with our neighbouring coastal authorities.
Cllr Nicholas Kenton, DDC Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services, said: “
As more people get out and about, it’s important we consider the interests of everybody for the future of the district. We ask all dog owners to continue to act responsibly, respect the PSPOs, and take account of the needs of others visiting public spaces. We continue to remind everybody to follow government guidance on social distancing at all times.”
