Vacancies

Published: 25 August 2020

Walmer Town Council is looking for local people who are enthusiastic about Walmer and want to contribute to the future of the Parish. Vacancies have arisen on the Council following the retirement of two councillors and applications are invited from anyone over the age of 18 who lives or works within three miles of Walmer and is committed to ensuring Walmer remains a great place to live, work and visit.

The Council is looking for people from all walks of life and with a range of skills. Perhaps you could lend your professional skills in financial management or project management? Maybe you have always fancied event planning? We need people with fresh ideas to keep our events exciting for local people and visitors. Could you lend some expert advice or enthusiasm?

Perhaps your passion is conservation and you could get involved with our work at Hawkshill? We own and manage the rare chalk grassland overlooking the channel to the south of Walmer Castle to ensure the space remains a beautiful place to walk explore and picnic. Perhaps you have green fingers and would like to work with our Walmer in Bloom team or help manage our allotments?

Maybe you have an interest in the built environment and would like to be involved in shaping the development of Walmer for future generations? Our planning committee considers and comments on more than 120 applications each year.

Or perhaps you have some completely new ideas to improve and enhance the lives of Walmer residents and our many visitors? We welcome diversity, so whatever your interest or background, please contact the Clerk on 01304 362363 for an informal chat or to request an information pack.
