Great British Spring Clean 2025
Published: 10 March 2025
Back for its tenth year, the Great British Spring Clean is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign.
The campaign, by Keep Britain Tidy encourages the public to make a real difference in their communities by either hosting or participating in a litter pick.
DDC is pleased to be supporting this year’s campaign which is due to take place between the 21st of March – 6th April. During the campaign DDC are going on tour across the district and hosting a number of pop-up litter picking events and they welcome the residents and local councillors to join them.
If you or any community groups within your Parish or Ward would like to organise their own litter pick, then they can provide the equipment needed and even collect the litter collected when you finish. For further information on arranging your own event please see their waste and recycling pages or contact Dan Welsh in Waste Services for advice. If you’re organising something, please let them know and they can help to promote it on DDC’s social media pages where appropriate.
Two competitions are also being launched in support of the campaign. Firstly, the REACH awards which formerly recognise great work being conducted in our communities to improve the environment by organisations, community groups and litter pickers young and old. Secondly, is the relaunch of the popular “Do the right thing and put your litter in the bin” poster competition for under-18s where the winning design will be displayed on some of the district’s refuse and recycling vehicles.
